Two Worlds Converge - Dean & Lacey December 2006 through September 2007

Thanks to these two (Executive Officers of SUPERVALU, Inc.) the worlds of Dean Holzbauer and Lacey Sellers/Scheurman have been changed forever. After I had been in the Tax Department for a couple of months, it was announced that SUPERVALU, Inc., our parent company, decided to bring all tax and licensing functions for both SUPERVALU and Albertsons, Inc. to Boise. They felt that the Boise Office would best meet their needs.

December 2006 It was announced in the Boise Tax Accounting Department that they were going to have a couple of people visiting to see what it is like over here. They were told that moving out here was a possibility for both of them. Here is where it began for the two of them. Lacey will take it from here! Wow!!! – Unbeknownst to me, the two of them were being escorted throughout the department and introduced to everyone that was sitting at their cube at the time. Brandon, my supervisor at the time, came and one of the two people was this guy named Dean. Holy, Moly He was cute!!!!

It ended up that I planned our first date as he didn't know the area enough to plan anything. We thought we would just catch a movie and stop afterwards for ice cream. The theatre I planned to go to had changed their movie schedule so we had to catch it at a different theatre. Not knowing what else to do we caught a movie at the theatre down the road; it was a dump. The movie wasn't that great either; what a first date!

Here's a picture of the front of the theatre.

Here is the date-mobile - a Pontiac Grand Prix!

The next day we planned to go on a bike ride so I could show him some of Boise. I had riden a bike anywhere exciting for a long time, let alone exercise, and this nearby trail is known for being a good place to ride. I checked the Internet and it said that it was a beginners level, no problem......I THOUGHT! I am not sure how far we made it, probably 50 ft., until I had to stop and take a break. How embarrasing! I was trying to impress this guy and I was doing quite the opposite. He was very kind and didn't complain that we had to take a break every 20-30 feet. Instead of turning around, which would have been smart, we just kept going. The incline increased, the breaks became more often, and.....I thought I was going to die! No seriously, I did. He asked if he needed to go for help. Ms. Proud kept going thinking she was "hot stuff" and could make it. I finally admitted to him that crouching in the shade behind the two feet high sagebrush and drinking water just wasn't helping. We kept going...and finally we made it. If it wasn't my mom's bike, I think I would have ditched the thing and crawled the rest of the way. It was about noon when we went, because I refused to wake up early, which really didn't help. Dean was very patient and was sincerely concerned; MY HERO! I have no idea what was crossing his mind.

Here is a picture that was taken at my parent's house the first time he met them.

Here is a picture of me and the kids after a flight with my dad who is now a thankful owner of his own pilot's license.

Here is a really nice theatre that we like to go to. By the way, we haven't returned to the other one and probably never will. I think I heard that it closed down; we are not surprised.

Here is the restaurant we go to 90% of the time we go to lunch at work. We have the same server each time we go; I think that we can be considered as "regulars."

Here is the Boise, Idaho temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is quite the building. We have sat nearby at night basking in its serene beauty.

Here is another restaurant that we like to go to for lunch.

Many times for an afternoon break we go for a walk to get out of the office. This is what we get to see; the beautiful Boise River.

Here is the bridge that we stand on - what a view!

Another amazing view!

This is the Kathryn Albertson's Park here in Boise. We have gone there a couple of times. The first time that we went we saw some ducks. Dean warned me to leave them alone. I decided it would be fun to play a little, I should have listened.

A long-time tradition in Boise is the Annual Albertson's Boise Open. We had the opportunity

Before the weather turned chilly we would often go on bikerides following the Boise Parks & Recreation's Greenbelt. It follows the Boise River for miles and miles with tons of shade during the hottest times of the year. (and 0% incline!)

This is what we saw going across Southern Idaho on our two trips to Utah, what a drab ride for sure!

Our first trip to Utah was to visit my sister Natalie that had just moved there. While we were there we went to the Temple Square in Salt Lake City. This is a picture of the Salt Lake Temple.

There is a huge building there called the Conference Center that is used for church-wide broadcasts, local church meetings and other cultural events.

This is another shot of the conference center inside the main auditorium.

Our second trip to Utah was for a family reunion of my immediate family. We went to Lagoon, an amusement park well known in the northwest.

This is a picture we took while we were there.

This is a picture of a statue in the Visitor's Center on Temple Square.

Another shot of the conference center. If I remember right it seats more than 20,000 people.

This was Riley's favorite ride at Lagoon. I had the privilege of going with him; Julie and Dean went on the Merry-Go-Round.

One weekend we went camping at Givens Hot Spring in southwestern Idaho. Reluctantly Dean posed for a picture feeling very man pretty first thing in the morning.

Riley and Julie posing for a shot in the wind on top of a dirt hill there. If I would let her, Julie would wear her pajamas every day all day.

Another shot -

One Saturday in August we went to Black Canyon which is 45-60 minutes north of Boise. Julie decided that she was brave enough to ride in the tube herself.

This is a video of Julie - going, and going, and going.....

This is a picture of a Lucky Peak Lake. We also went waterskiing here this past summer.

Over Labor Day weekend we floated down the Boise River. Except for the occasional waterfalls (very small) it is quite leisurely. At time is gets quite shallow and if your boat isn't inflated enough you can get bruised before you realize it. Poor Dean!

This is another picture from our trip to Black Canyon. This is me, Lacey, waterskiing for the second time this past summer. It sure has been a while. We used to go all the time growing up.

Dean at Black Canyon posing for a nice sunny picture.

....right before he got up enough courage to wakeboard. After three tries he decided that he had taken too much of everyone else's time. Actually......was he embarrassed? He said no.

This is a picture of me and Dean at my 10 year high school reunion. He was such a good sport to go with me!

Here is a picture of my sisters Allison, Audra, my dad, and Dean at Riley's Baptism July 28th.

Can you tell that Riley loves his sister?

This is Riley and his maternal great-grandpa. I swear this is where he gets his good looks from.

I am so proud of him for becoming such a special young man!

This is a picture of Dean and my grandpa Miles. Dean says that he reminds him of his own grandpa.

This is Dean fresh out of the tent on a crisp Sunday morning near Stanley, Idaho.

Don't look too close, I just got out of bed too!

A picture that I took there by our tent. It was so picturesc up there!

This is something that you see on "Little House On the Prairie" - call me Laura! Good thing Dean had a pocket knife and flat-blade screwdriver. Can't say that the knife would cut anything now.

Just romantic fools I guess!

The view right outside our tent.

The reason we left so early - TONS OF THEM!!!

A gorgeous view of the area we were in.

Holy moly it is gorgeous up there.

What we used for a dinner and breakfast table. Our supposed flashlight -thankfully an ant race led us to the outhouse.
